Moes Haven: Buy CDs Here!
MOES HAVEN
JANUARY
This disc contains the 14 best tracks from the first month of Moes Haven's famed album-a-day project of 2006. While they still manage to write unusual songs like "Double Agents are Deceptive" and "Bode Miller," Farley and Scalzo may surprise you with a number of beautiful, straightforward pieces that reveal a more mature, complex side of Moes Haven.
FEBRUARY
From the album-a-day project, this album is raw and gritty. It follows the life of Creepy Bobby, a beach-loving farmhand who laments his miserable life in a nightly Cabaret show.
MARCH: Of the Aliens
Nine tracks recorded in March of 2006 that tell the story of the day Sacramento was invaded by aliens. Not to be missed.
APRIL: What a Cruel Month!
Featuring 18 tracks recorded in April of 2006, this album features Farley and Scalzo accompanied only by electric or acoustic guitars. Each song is less than two minutes long!
May: I Buy You a Sandwich?
A superb collection of the best songs recorded in May of 2006, MAY: I BUY YOU A SANDWICH is filled with gorgeous melodies, fine, mostly acoustic instrumentation and Moes Haven's trademark lyrical brilliance.
JUNE
Featuring the best tracks from the month of June, 2006, this is a tight collection of ten fine compositions. It's weird music from start to finish--but it's a different kind of weird from one song to the next.
Featuring the immortal ode to "Rachel McAdams," JUNE is a great album that rewards listeners who play it on repeat for weeks at a time.
JULY: IN THE SUN WITH ME?
The ultimate summer album. This is a collection of catchy, mostly upbeat numbers that celebrate the sun, the lake and two-piece suits!
AUGUST: OF TEMPORAL INCONSISTENCY
Eighteen spectacular songs, incuding "Bathing With a Nurse," "Let Me Tell You 'Bout a Bath I Took" and "(Scrubs or) No Scrubs (That Is The Question)." Yeah!
SEPTEMBER: IN MANCHVEGAS
Almost every Moes Haven song has been recorded in Manchester, NH. So the boys spent most of September, 2006 writing songs that celebrate "Manchvegas," as it is lovingly called. Every Manchester resident needs this album. Everyone else needs to get this album and then come visit this quirky city.
(SH)OC(K)TOBER
Farley and Scalzo are students of low-budget horror films of the 1970s and 1980s. In October of 2006, they wrote a bunch of songs that celebrate some of their favorite horror films.
NOVEMBER the Tar!
A collection of songs written in the tradition of the compositions of Rogers and Clarke, as portrayed by Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman in the 1987 Columbia feature film, Ishtar, a much maligned production centered on the meteoric rise of an ill-received singer/songwriter duo, which in no way deserved the almost universal disparagement it received from critics who focused disproportionately upon the picture's lavish budget instead of its groundbreaking humor and ribald social commentary, which is only now, some two decades later, finally being recognized by a select few respected scholars and erudite theologians.
DECEMBER
The last album from the 365-album project. It is similar to NOVEMBER, but with more fully-realized songs. Includes "Moes Haven's Five-Year-Plan."
IF NOT US, WHO?
An odd collection of songs about psychiatry, sadness, pirates and Kate Amara, among other things, IF NOT US, WHO? is a good example of Moes Haven letting loose.
SOMEONE ELSE
The boys describe SOMEONE ELSE as the saddest album of all time. But it also has plenty of laughs! Dominated by Farley's rich piano chords, SOMEONE ELSE has a dense sound that links one track to the next. The themes of loneliness, isolation, regret, shame and desperation are periodically jolted with a shot of Moes Haven's unique brand of nihilistic humor.
OUT WITH THE OLD
Although these songs might sound at first like a collection of outstanding, mostly acoustic pieces in the tradition of the great singer/songwriters from the 60s and 70s, a second and third listen of this album will reveal much more. Moes Haven is anything but ordinary. And these songs, while less adventurous musically than some of their other material, have deep, penetrating and sometimes hilariously contradictory lyrics that will keep you scratching your head and wanting to listen again. And that's taking nothing away from the elegant melodies and spare music that grabs your attention and won't let go.
MOE'S HAVEN
An essential album for all college English majors, this album perfectly captures what it's like to be 22 years old.
Svetlana Finds Solace in the Arms of English Men of Letters vol. 1
This fan-favorite from 2004 is described by the band as "the musical equivalent of James Boswell's memories of his long-lost love, Svetlana, as he wanders through 21st Century America." But that context is not needed to enjoy this colorful collection of spectacular songs.
Sir Paul Made Ram. We Made This.
Moes Haven brought part-time member (and full-time Paul McCartney fan) Chris Peterson into the studio for the entire recording of this album, which is their attempt at making music that compares to the classic album RAM.
In classic McCartney style, these songs are fun, bright, alive, chraming and brimming with melody.
Sir Paul will be proud!
Down With Memories
Entranced by their own songwriting abilities, Farley and Sclazo wrote these 29 tracks without once asking themselves "why?" These songs are pure Moes Haven: fun, sad, strange, frightening, sweet and shockingly original.
MUSIC FOR THE FINAL MILLENNIUM
This collection of Moes Haven's most bizarre songs will shock and amaze you. Listen to these songs long enough and the answers will be burned into your brain.
EXPLORATIONS IN MADNESS
Five years in the making, EXPLORATIONS IN MADNESS is the ultimate concept album. Dark and beautiful melodies along with complex lyrics reward repeated listens.
DISLOCATED SONGS
When Farley and Scalzo let loose, they come up with some of the funniest songs ever written. DISLOCATED SONGS is a collection of more than 30 laugh-out-loud classics including "Pickle Sandwich," "Papaphobia" and "Phreddie, The Buck-Toothed Christmas Tree."
THE SPOILED CHEFS
SONGS ABOUT FOOD
This is the debut album from The Spoiled Chefs that started the phenomenon. Including classics like "Who Put Coffee in My Mountain Dew" and "Franks 'n' Beans," this is a mouth-watering collection of unusual songs that the entire family won't want to miss.
SONGS ABOUT HOLIDAYS AND OTHER THINGS
The Spoiled Chefs have so much to say about so many topics that they can't be forced just to sing about food. Heck, they can't just sing about holidays. They've got to be allowed to sing about other things as well. And so we have SONGS ABOUT HOLIDAYS AND OTHER THINGS. It's an incredible collection that reveals the Chefs to be more than a fluke. These guys have real talent. Just listen to "Two Trucks Ago She Was a Standard." Then you'll understand.
