New Review from Junkmedia! - September 4, 2007

Check out this new review of VICTORY IS OURS! (FOR NOW) which says, among other things: "Nearly eight days' worth of music (182.5 hours, if they are to be believed) became 16 low-budget, pop-inflected throwaways. That's not a damning statement. These casual, comic one-offs feel fresh and spontaneous and offer a shambling ride that lands between The Mountain Goats and slighter pop songsters like Ben Folds or Jack Johnson."

Review of VICTORY IS OURS! (FOR NOW) - May 3, 2007
The Wire, a weekly paper from Portsmouth, NH has written a fine review of VICTORY IS OURS! (FOR NOW).
Among other things, the reviewer says: "Moes Haven echoes the stripped down work of The Mountain Goats in voice, style and lyricism, and at times demonstrates the Goats’ comic cynicism. In another respect, the band sounds like a more authentic, low-budget version of Jack Johnson. Poppy yet soulful, the songs seem to counter the world’s crushing complexity with an insistence on lighthearted simplicity. Let Farley and Scalzo play music and nothing can get them down."

Farley Interview - March 1, 2007
The Party is Over - February 10, 2007
A message from Farley:
"The party is over."
Almost Done! - February 9, 2007
A message from Farley:
"The party ends tomorrow morning sometime in the 10:00 hour. I'm currently listening to the November 30 album. It's very good.
Today has seen the return of Jon, Liam and Natalie as well as Kristen. Also, Brook stopped by for the first time.
Jerry hasn't been here all day. I'm beginning to worry."
Less than 48 hours to go! - February 8, 2007
A message from Farley:
"The party has been wild lately. Last night, there were guests here until nearly 1:30 in the morning! Wow!
Let's hear it for Kevin, Amelia, Kristen and, of course, the ever-supportive Jerry.
Today we saw the return of Kristen and Jerry as well as the arrival of Rachel and Jim, who brought a delicious lunch for everyone. Yum.
I know there are lots of you out there thinking about attending. Time to stop thinking and start acting. This historic party ends Saturday morning around 11:00."
The Party Continues! - February 7, 2007
A message from Farley:
"I'm currently listening to the album from August 18. Boy is it good!
Today's visitors so far have been Ashely, CJ and, of course, the ever-supportive Jerry, who will certainly win the best guest award for this 8-day-party.
There's still time to attend this historic event, which ends Saturday morning around 11:00.
Give me a call: 603-644-0048."
Notes from the Half-Way Point - February 6, 2007
A message from Farley:
"This party is flying by! Only four days left.
We had a big breakfast this morning while listening to the last albums from June. Now the discs from early July are playing. Good times.
My legs sometimes hurt from lack of use. I usually walk several miles each day. But I haven't left my one-room apartment since Friday. I can only pace back and forth so much. Alas! I will take a big walk after the party ends on Saturday at 11:00 AM."
Notes From Day Four - February 5, 2007
A message from Farley:
"It's Monday morning at around 11:00. I'm currently listening to the album from May 12. It's a good one.
Jerry continues to be the most loyal visitor. He came by twice yesterday and once so far today. He has also brought two other visitors with him.
More updates to follow."
Notes From Day Three! - February 4, 2007
A message from Farley:
"Exactly three days into this epic listening party, I'm still in one piece. Scalzo left a few hours ago. We completed our season of BASEBALL STARS. His team, The Skunk Apes, came in 2nd place. Mine, Party Barn, finished in first place with a record of 47-3. Not bad.
The highlight of Day 2 was when our guests Bill and Jane arrived. These devoted fans of obscure music journeyed all the way from Portland, ME to spend a few hours at this historic event. Thanks, Bill and Jane.
I challenge anyone else out there to beat their current record for most miles traveled to come to the listening party.
Many thanks also go out to these supporters:
Kevin and Lisa
Jon, Natalie and Liam
and, of course, the ever-supportive Jerry, who has brought not only good company, but also some delicious food.
If anyone else out there wants to attend this historic event, give me a call: 603-644-0048. I'll just be sitting here, listening to Moes Haven 24-hours-a-day until Saturday."
DAY TWO BEGINS! - February 3, 2007
A note from Farley:
"Scalzo arrived around 7:30 last night. We've been playing Baseball Stars for the original Nintendo Entertainment System since then (except for a short sleep break between 5:00 AM and 9:00 AM).
Tom's team, The Skunk Apes, is struggling to find its way.
My team, Party Barn, has only lost one of eighteen games.
In case anyone is wondering, I will not be leaving my apartment at all during this listening party, which is going to last eight days.
Tom was unable to get time off of work, so he'll only be here for the first weekend.
Many thanks to our supporter, George, who is an honorary guest of the listening party.
I'd also like to thank Jerry, a local poet and actor, who has already come to the party twice and promises to continue to stop by a few times each day.
Lastly, many thanks to Kevin Cotter, local comedian, who brought a big crowd last night.
Musically, the highlights came between 3:00 and 5:00 AM when we listened to several songs that were recorded in Tom's bathroom last year (in honor of Dexter Romweber).
The music continued to play as we slept. God bless the 5-disc changer!
More updates to follow."
The 365-Album Listening Party Begins! - February 2, 2007
A message from Matt Farley:
"At 4:29, I pressed play on the boombox and began the 8-day listening party. It was a pretty quiet start, as I am the only one here right now. Hopefully I'll have at least one visitor before it's over. Scalzo is expected later this evening.
I'll update the website at least once a day to let everyone know how it's going.
If anyone wants to attend this historic event, call me at 603-644-0048."

DECEMBER review by smother.net ! - January 7, 2007
Check out what J-Sin had to say about the last Moes Haven album of 2006:
"I have to admit when I started reviewing the monthly releases by Moes Haven as they embarked on an ambitious year-long journey in songwriting (a new song every day of the year, with each month compiling their best jams into one release), I had no faith that they’d complete it. I figured, “give them till May, then they’ll quit”. But no, they didn’t. And even better, they aged well as “December” brings some of their most hefty pop tunes yet. Sure many of their songs are rather short but name me another artist who could put out over three hundred two-minute songs that are actually worth listening to. As they close out the year with their “Moes Haven’s Five Year Plan”, they promise to keep writing songs but that they will be tossing them under lock and key in a vault. But ho-ho, they claim on the song that I can come up and come into the vault “as long as you prove you don’t have any kind of recording device” and that I could write an exclusive article. You know guys, I might just have to do that... So folks, if it’s taken you all twelve of these mighty reviews complete with my utterly undisciplined sub-par writing to jump on the Moes Haven bandwagon, shame on you, but by golly hop aboard. Choo, choo! And until the 'Stromboli Alarm Clock' days. "
