Moes Haven: Lyrics/Clips/MP3s

Flashed in Manchvegas

(Moes Haven)
It was a cold, cold night
As cold as the looks people give you when you're walking out of Forbidden Fruit on Amherst Street
You know that look

I was walking on home from work around 12:30, maybe 1:00 in the morning
Down Chestnut Street
Looked to my right and saw a couple people walking into The Red Arrow diner for some late night delicious foods
Other than that, things were pretty quiet in downtown Manchvegas on that Tuesday night / Wednesday morning

I walked by that parking lot there by the Cathedral
Not far from the library
You know the one
Where you walk by at 12:30, maybe 1:00 in the morning
You see a couple cars with some creepy guys just idling there in the parking lot
And you think to yourself
"Now what are they doing there, anyway?"
It can't be good!

Well, anyway I guess I was about to find out
Cause one car--car
It was an SUV
It started falling me down Chestnut Street
I wasn't sure
But when I took a right onto Hanover and so did he
I deduced that he was indeed following me
So I slowed down by The Stage Door Cafe, where they were just closing down for the night
And I pretended to read the menu in the window

I paid attention as the SUV drove on ahead of me
Pulled over on the right side of the road and parked
Now, I started feeling kind of stubborn
A little angry
Thinking, it's not right that this guy in this SUV was going to mess with me at this hour of the night
Or any hour of the day or night here in Manchvegas
This is my city
I live here
I'm not gonna let him intimidate me
I'm not gonna let him change my plans
I'm gonna walk home just like I always do

And that's what I did
Well, I did cross over to the other side of the road
As a precautionary safety tactic
Walked on by that big old parking garage behind the Citizen's Bank
I got closer to that SUV
And I noticed the door was opening
And his legs were swinging out there
But he remained seated in the SUV with his legs dangling out there

I tried not to look his way
But I did glance and notice that he was indeed unbuckling his belt and pulling down his pants
Not a great experience for me
As you can imagine, at 12:30 / 1:00 in the morning on Hanover Street

So, anyway, there's this courtyard behind the Citizen's Bank
Right before you bump into the old parking garage
And I bolted left right through that old courtyard
And I ran all the way home to West Merrimack Street
Wntil I was safe behind the multiple locks on my door

I felt a little bit of resentment about how this guy had intimidated me
Made me scared to walk down the street
What kind of world do we live in where a man can't walk down the street at 12:30 / 1:00 in the morning without some guy trying to flash you?

I guess that's just part of living in the big old city of Manchvegas
You never know what you're going to run into
It's not always good
But it's usually not that bad
Anyway, I'm OK
I just thought I'd tell you about it
